Testosterone

  • Started taking Testosterone at 21 years old.
  • I take testosterone to grow muscles, a beard, body hair and a dick. Also because it makes me feel happy and is getting rid of the female body fat distribution.
  • The end result of taking testosterone for me is happiness and a better sex life.

Habits & Health

  • Don't smoke at all
  • Rarely drink
  • Have used recreational drugs
  • Physical health problem is congenital connective tissue dysplasia which gives me joint problems, among other things

Mental Health

  • Yes, I have depression

Life prior to Treatment

Life before transition - I was confused about a lot of things and I didn't really know where I was going.

My identity prior to transition - Just a person... a queer one.

The most common emotion for me was Sadness.

Yes, I had an 'exit-plan' or had attempted suicide. I thought about it every day in my teens and had several plans.

Treatment & Effects

What medical process/hormone regime

I did my research on the internet to find out what the process for getting help was, and went to my GP with the name of the psychiatrist I wanted to be referred to. I saw the psychiatrist monthly for about 6 months and then got her to refer me to an endocrinologist, who prescribed my T. I started on 250mg of primoteston monthly, then increased to 250mg of primoteston fortnightly after about 3 months, and I'm still on that dose. My GP gave me the shots at first but I self inject now. I get blood T levels and blood tests (liver, cholesterol etc) every 6 months. We alter my T dose according to what the blood tests show.

What changes occured that you wanted?

  • Hair growth, muscle growth, dick growth.
  • More energy. Felt *happy* for the first time in ages.
  • Also grounded, emotionally stable.

What changes occured that you didn't want?

My voice broke. I was a singer (semi-professional) and I actually really loved my voice before. Now, it doesn't work the way I want it to and I don't like how it sounds.

body type before

Pear shaped

body type after

Still pear shaped but it's gradually changing.

weight before

About 75, high proportion of fat

weight after

Still about 75 but more muscle than fat.

height before

168cm

height after

170cm and still growing

Did testosterone or transition change your sexuality (who you are attracted to)?

Well, it didn't change who I was attracted to, but I felt able to express my attraction. I didn't feel able to be with men as a "woman", so I only fucked female bodied people. Now, I feel free to sleep with either and am in a relationship with a man at the moment.
