Surgery costs for hysterectomy in NSW (2010)
ONE of our members in NSW has provided the following breakdown of costs (2010 figures).
“Dr Elbeaini’s secretary informs me that a hysterectomy by him (laparoscopic or abdominal) is only possible through a private hospital and costs as follows:
Surgeon $1,685.00 (Medicare claim: $500)
Assistant surgeon $468.00
Anaesthetist $600.00
Private Hospital $4,510.00
Total $7,263.00
He took private health insurance which covered the surgery.
