How do I check about a testosterone product recall?
The Australian Federal body, called the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), regulates therapeutic goods in Australia. The TGA carries out a range of assessment and monitoring activities to ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of medicines available in Australia are of an acceptable standard for public health and safety.
The TGA has a procedure called the Uniform Recall Procedure for Therapeutic Goods (URPTG) which defines the action to be taken by health authorities and sponsors when therapeutic goods for use in humans, for reasons relating to their quality, safety or efficacy are to be removed from supply or use, or subject to corrective action.
The place to check out if a product recall is a rumour or not is on the Therapeutic Goods Administration website. All drug and medical device recall information is published here www.tga.gov.au/safety/recalls.htm
You can check based on the Current year recalls or All recalls from 2001 to the present.
If you’re in any doubt, speak to your GP at your next appointment.
