Can I choose the effects of testosterone?

WHEN you start testosterone treatment, you’re not going to be able to ‘pick and choose’ the physical effects you want and the ones you don’t want.

Your physical changes will happen according to your ethnic and genetic predisposition.

If you have an Italian or Greek background, like your male relatives, back hair is probably going to figure strongly in your final appearance. If you come from a relatively hairless Asian background, there’s not much point expecting to have a full beard after 3 years of treatment. If baldness runs in your family, don’t be surprised if you develop a receding hairline.

Like any other man, even on testosterone you will need to accept aspects of your physical self you might not be totally happy about.
