Getting an Australian passport

From the 14 September 2011,  surgery is no longer a prerequisite to issue you a passport showing your male gender. If you have changed your name, proof of your legal name change is required.

The Australian Passport Information Service (APIS) provides a telephone information service to callers inside Australia seven days a week. Your questions will be answered by trained and experienced staff. You can contact APIS on 131 232 for the cost of a local call. Hours of operation are (EST) 8am-8pm weekdays and 8:30am-5pm weekends and most public holidays.
