People with physical anatomy that is out of the
ordinary often find it hard to find health care
providers, doctors and other service providers who
are respectful, understanding and knowledge of
their particular health needs.
Examples include:
- general practitioners who are often the
gateway to a range of other health care
services;
- psychiatrists and other assessment
professionals;
- plastic reconstructive surgeons and
gynaecology surgeons;
- health and fitness service providers;
- counselling services; including
- lawyers, fertility clinics, counsellors,
marriage celebrants and many other service
providers.
Men and their families living in regional and
rural Australia, in particular, are in need of
respectful, confidential and knowledgeable
providers.
What is the strategy?
One of the main roles of FTM
Australia has been in offering resources to
men who are seeking respectful and informed
service providers, on a 'friend-to-friend'
basis.
The information is not available to
the general public and
does not appear on our
website for legal reasons - and out of
respect for the wishes of doctors and health
care providers themselves.
