FTM Australia has an ad-hoc Advisory Panel which helps to make sure our information resources are based on best current knowledge.

Our advisory panel consists of practitioners representing a range of disciplines. Members of this group indicate their availability on an ad hoc basis (no more than three times a year) to verify accuracy of any specialised material prior to publication.

Panel Members

  • Dr Gale Bearman. General Practitioner, MBBS., Brisbane, Qld

  • Pip Bowden. B.A.(Hons), M.Psychol. Clinical Psychologist, Sydney, NSW
    Pip is part of the Cumberland Community Adult Mental Health and amongst her interests she lists the management of psychological issues in long-term illness, promotion and evaluation of AIDS prevention strategies. She is experience about sexual issues for men with transsexualism using her professional experience amongst men with sexual concerns in clinical practice.

  • Anthony Brown is a Men's Project Worker at the research unit of the Men's Health Information & Resource Centre at the University of Western Sydney. MHIRC designs, develops and supports research and projects which contribute to the enhancement of the health & well-being of men and boys in a variety of contexts, promoting an well-being approach to health for men and boys. MHIRC has assisted MTRA between 2001 and late-2006 and was instrumental in getting the FTMA network in Sydney started.

  • Department of Andrology, Concord Hospital, Sydney, NSW. Andrology is the study of male reproductive health, medicine and biology. Andrology covers several key dimensions notably the effects of androgens, male hormones and testosterone, on health and disease. Amongst several projects, this department has a focus on androgen deficiency as one of the most frequent hormone deficiency state in men. The unit works to research, improve and optimise androgen therapy for men as a highly effective strategy in restoring good health and wellbeing.

  • Dr. Milton Diamond, is a professor of anatomy and reproductive biology at the University of Hawaii. Currently director of the John A. Burns School of Medicine's Pacific Center for Sex and Society, Prof Diamond is well known for his research on the origins of sexual identity particularly his follow-up of David Reimer and the John/Joan case. A professional member of FTMA since 2002 and now MTRA, his ongoing research and commitment to investigating the scientific basis to sexual identity is enormously encouraging.

  • Dr Jon Hayes, MBBS, FRACP, PHD, is an Endocrinologist in Sydney, NSW

  • Dr Rosemary Anne Jones, MB, ChB, FRCOG, FRANZCOG (pka Dr Robert Anthony Jones) is a Gynaecologist in Adelaide, South Australia. Dr Jones is compassionate and understanding of the condition of transsexualism. She is a member of the South Australian Gender Dysphoria Unit and considers herself privileged to meet with and assist members of the transsexual community.

  • Dr Linda Mann, MBBS, BScMed, DRACOG, FRACGP, is a General Practitioner out of the Inner West General Practice in Sydney, NSW. Linda strongly believes education is an important part of health care and remains keen to improve the level of understanding of medical issues amongst her patients and the community at large. Linda is active in The Central Sydney Division of General Practice regularly teaching medical students from Sydney University and NSW University about general practice within this surgery.

  • Su Reid, BA (Hons), Master of Public Health, NSW Health Policy Officer, Sydney, NSW. Secretariat to the NSW Health Department's Expert Advisory Group on Gender Differences, Su has an interest in people who experience variation in sexual formation and expression (transgender/ transsexualism/ intersex).

  • Vikki Sinnott, BA, Grad.Dip. Applied Psychology, Grad.Dip. Women's Health, Master of Public Health is a psychologist in Melbourne, Victoria with considerable interest and experience in gender identity issues. Vikki provides counselling, support programs for partners, and training services in relation to transsexualism and transgenderism.
