TWO MONTHS ago - in
November 2001 with Edition 2 - a feedback survey
went out with the TORQUE magazine about what
readers wanted to see in these pages.
Out of the 50 that were
posted out, 17surveys returned. I felt this was
quite a good result - meaning 34% of surveys
were responded to.
PLACE
- 10 surveys
from New South Wales
- 2 surveys
from Queensland
- 3 surveys
from Victoria
- 2 surveys
from Western Australia
AGES
- 10 people
below the age of 35
- 4 people
between 36 - 45 years old
- 3 people 46
- 55 years old
The more votes a topic
got, said to me that this was a topic for an
article in the magazine. So, the topics that
received 12 and more votes were considered the
most popular ideas for articles.
These were: "Health",
"Health and Hormones", "Lower Surgery",
"Relationship issues", "ADB info", "Court
Rulings" and a completely unexpected one was
"Peer Support issues".
The topics that received 9
to 12 votes each were considered the next most
popular topics for articles and these were:
"Question/Answer" page, "Dear Editor" page, "My
Story" page, "FTM Australia Reports", and topics
around "Significant Others", "Family", "Mens
Issues", "Chest Surgery", "Self-Injecting" and
"Straight issues".
With some concern, I
noticed that the "Safe Sex" topic had only 5
votes, and "HIV/AIDS" topic only got 4 votes.
While I'm concerned about this, I'm not sure
what conclusion I can draw from it. I was also
surprised to notice little interest (only 3
votes) in the topic of "personals adverts" - so
that cans that idea on the head.
Overall I was very pleased
to get so many surveys back so soon and it gave
me a good idea of the kinds of articles that
FTMs/Transmen want to see in the TORQUE
magazine.
