Hey Folks,

it has been a very busy few months for the board of FTM Australia.

We had a get together earlier this month in order to develop a mission statement for FTM Australia. We asked you, the members to come along and tell us ‘Why you first got involved with FTM Australia and what it is you want from FTM Australia’. The mission statement is now in its first draft; we realise that there are holes and that people may not feel completely comfortable with some of the terminology; this is why we are asking for your comments.

The mission statement is very important because it tells people what we are about and it dictates the future direction of FTM Australia. So please let us know what you think? Have we left something out? What do you think about the terminology? Do you feel represented? You can respond by e-mailing us at ftma.board@ftmaustralia.org or post to PO Box 488, Glebe, NSW, 2037.

We are in the process of putting together numerous booklets and info kits. Hopefully the Transitioning and Hormones handbook will be launched with a workshop and guest speaker a bit later in the year. We have set aside a bunch of dates to hold workshops, we will probably start with the hormones workshop as this applies to most of the guys or maybe prosthesis making and what about another phalloplasty workshop. Let us know what ideas you have.

On the topic of workshops, George and myself made arrangements to meet with Nicole from the Gender Centre. She is willing to advise us of any upcoming workshops, BBQ’s and guest speakers for the guys. This way we can all make the best out of both services. So keep your eye out in coming editions as well as on the website.

The Board have also been working towards incorporation. If we incorporate then we will be able to apply for grants, this would allow FTM Australia to move ahead quicker and provide a greater range of services. Funding was one of the top 5 areas for FTM Australia to look into.

We have a new board member from Western Australia, Terrance. Terrance has been with us for a few months and is already invaluable to the group. We encourage anyone who like to be more involved with the board to contact us. The board have taken on titles, we have done this for 2 reasons.

Firstly to help you folks with contacting the right person and secondly some of these titles are necessary for us if we go ahead with incorporation.
