Annette’s story

LIFE as a partner of an ftm can be trying at times. I am a 20 year old female who is engaged to my ftm partner. Unfortunatley, I come from a Maltese Catholic background with ignorant family members. My family does not know my partner is an ftm which can be trying at times, especially looking into the future.

He believes if they did discover his past and I had to choose between the two, I would resent him. I could never do such a thing. Love can overcome all odds.

Fortunatley, my partner is amazing and you can’t put a stop to destiny.

We actually met working together in a nursing home and we fell in love. That’s life. He’s an ftm, and so what??? That’s life.

I am a very open-minded person who is studying nursing. I believe that if two people are close enough, they are strong enough to overcome the odds. I was amazed and thrilled to read about Kevin’s victory in having his marriage legalised, hopefully, we will achieve the same.

Yes, I am only young and do not know a great deal of the world, but I know enough. I know enough to get through the trying times of life and decipher the important things from the simple. My partner has taught me a great deal and I could not thank him more for being who he is.

I believe any transsexual is a courageous, strong and amazing being for living their life as they do and defying the ignorance and discrimination of our world.

It is people like you who entrust a sense of hope for the future, for our children and theirs.

Being an oppressed group of our society, you continue to progress through your lives and be a part of this world in all the ways that you should. If only our government and those ignorant beings of our society could see what I see! How peaceful, accepting and free our lives would be.

With your courage and the support of family, friends and partners such as myself, I believe, one day, this can be achieved and ignorance conquered.

To all of you, ftm or mtf, I commend you and thank you for being who you are and doing what you do. You are a credit to our lives and an inspiration to the future of our world.
