THE NATURAL ASSUMPTION is that HRT does everything for you. It does to a certain degree but not as much as people think.

How does one unlearn everything we were taught in this female shell? Basically the same as we learnt it. Yes, I know this is time consuming and not a quick fix but this is a life change not a new season of fashion. This is a serious step. It’s not one to take lightly nor assume it will all be fixed with surgery and HRT.

There are things that you can do to start transitioning and masculinising yourself no matter what part of transition you’re at.

Observation is the key. It’s also very important to focus yourself on the question “What kind of man do I want to be after transition?” Answer this for yourself. Think of men that emulate this ideal for you and then design yourself around that picture.

Find yourself a role model and mimic him. After a while you will become someone you value and in your own time embody those role models in your own way. You can become everything you ever wanted to be.

Simple steps are:

  • Cut all your nails very short.
  • Stop shaving – everywhere you shaved before stop it.
  • Stop plucking – chuck those tools away.
  • Start to bind – bind the suckers down but not to the point that you can’t breathe! Unless they are bouncing everywhere no one will notice. Believe me that most of your worry is not actual people but your own self consciousness.
  • Remove all your jewellery. If you have a ring that is feminine that you want to keep on, buy yourself a necklace and attach it. Have a look around you and check out how many guys do you see wearing any kind of jewellery. Remove your ear rings leave only one stud.
  • Start exercising – weight training can be the better option. Men are very physical and relate on a physical realm so get fit or at least be able to keep up on a game or two of football, tennis or other active sport.
