I was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. My parents were divorced when my brother and I were quite small. So my mum did many of the hard yards of parenting by herself. The strongest message I have learnt from her is, “As long as you do your best then it’s all right”. Have a go, if you didn’t do fastastic, have another crack at it. Persist in your dreams.

I’d have to say my role model or mentor is Hmmm.... My Canadian friend Elaine - who always lives life to the full. She’s about as close as a role model as I’d get to having. Always sees the positive, stretches money far and wide, laughs and does silly things. Dependable and strong. Worldly wise. Honest and up front. Great stuff she is.

The wisest person I know could be my mate Charlie is very wise, and also very dumb at the same time. He can know so very much but not see what is happening right in front of him sometimes. Makes me think we’re all human, eh?

The traits I value in people are truth, honesty, integrety, the ability to laugh and get a bit silly, and to rise above. To look forward. My favourite journey would be hikes in the bush where I can feel the land and relax.

My greatest fear would be not achieving all I set out to - and if I have any say in it I’ll never fail!! In contrast, I feel my greatest acheivement would be the fun and rewarding relationship I have with my partner. Not unrealted to the amazing feat of finally feeling comfortably ‘me’. I can always laugh at a good comedy, my nephew and the silly things hes says sometimes, and catching a great wave on my body board all make me laugh big time.

I enjoy the challenges in my life. They are what makes things interesting, dynamic and amazing. Work, play, study, learn, grow, be; all have many enjoyable aspects.

To pin point a defining moment ‘as a man’ is very difficult to do. I feel like I’ve always been me.

My life motto is live full, respect your body and health, give everything you wish to return to you, attempt the impossible!

I believe the key issues for men in today’s world is achieving peace in the world. It’s a very large issue for men into the future. As is finding a level of comfort within that enables violence and hatred to discontinue. Achieving a state of conciousness will be integral to this.

Masculinity means many things to me. It does not mean beating your chest everytime things dont go your way and waging war on the world. That’s what little boys do. What it does mean to me is being helpful and considerate, it means stepping to the plate when someone is in need, it means being the best you can be, and it means living with integrety and doing the right thing even if it’s really hard to do.
