1. Update on Sustanon250

It looks like the supply of Sustanon250 is back. Stocks are slowly coming back around the country.

Thanks to advice sent out to GPs by MSD Australia back on the 1 December 2011, we know that:

MSD have decided to discontinue the manufacture of Testosterone Implants. These Implants may still be available until the remaining stock is depleted or has expired.

Sustanon250 has come off the PBS. It will be available at full price.

If you have any questions about this situation, please contact FTM Australia on mail@ftmaustralia.org

2. Surgery and Weight Loss by Sandy (NSW Australia)

SOME men contemplating chest surgery have been advised by their surgeon that they should lose weight prior to undertaking surgery. In fact some surgeons may even refuse to operate on a person who is extremely overweight or obese.

Many people may well find the idea of this offensive or even discriminatory. Overweight people have been subject to some pretty nasty harassment and discrimination simply because of their size. Unlike other mobility limiting medical conditions, the issue of ‘fat’ triggers strong emotions in some people, mostly negative. Examination of the reasons for this is outside the scope of this article, however it is totally understandable that some obese people may read more into their surgeon’s reaction than is actually there. I must say I was surprised when my chosen surgeon advised me to lose weight prior to chest surgery because I did not consider myself to be overweight. A little flabby at best but hardly ‘fat’.

3. 2011 Video

The 2011 ‘Born this Way’ video set to Lady Gaga’s very cool single was launched on Christmas Day 25 December 2011.

Thanks and kudos to all those who participated by sending in their photos. We’d like to repeat this in 2012 – so stay tuned!!

4. History Timeline

Thanks to the kind permission and participation of Rabbi Levi Alter of FTM International, we have a greatly expanded and updated historical timeline on the website. This timeline draws fairly extensively on Levi’s ‘Men’s World’ website http://www.computerconsultingservices.net/mensworld/mensworld.html

Levi says,

“We should have our rightful place in history as the men we are, not as if we are somehow examples of women’s accomplishments. As wonderful as it is that women have achieved great things in spite of discrimination, it is misleading and disingenuous to portray our men as if we were women.

Many of these men, known to have been assigned female at birth, stated they felt male and preferred to live male lives, rather than stating that they objected to being read as male and were crusading women. I know I am going against the grain, for example, in saying that John of Arc, William Cather, etc. were men. Meanwhile let us reclaim our own brothers.”

FTM Australia echoes Levi’s comments.

Some of you who receive this Network News feature in the timeline. To ensure the details are correct, please check the timeline. If you have additions or corrections please contact us at mail@ftmaustralia.org I hope you enjoy reading this and learning more about the achievements and lives of men (identified ‘female’ at birth).
